Special Announcement: Disability Community for Democracy, Inc. Endorses Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett for U.S. Senate

Usually, we stay neutral during primaries; but these are truly unprecedented times.

Disability Community for Democracy, Inc. generally refrains from endorsing candidates during the primary season. Any candidate we choose to endorse following a primary must demonstrate specific policies aimed at enhancing the lives of individuals with disabilities. This issue is particularly significant at this time, given that Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, one of the three Republican candidates for the United States Senate, has initiated a lawsuit alongside Attorneys General from eight other states, challenging the federal regulations under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act on constitutional grounds, with particular emphasis on the integration mandate.

In this context, we opted to conduct a more thorough investigation to determine which candidate vying for the United States Senate in Texas has articulated policies specifically addressing the needs of individuals with disabilities and aimed at enhancing their quality of life. Congresswoman Crockett is the sole candidate to have outlined targeted policies for the disability community on her Senate campaign website. Additionally, she is the only candidate to have publicly contested RFK, Jr.’s dissemination of misinformation and disinformation regarding autism.

Because of these reasons, Disability Community for Democracy has chosen to go against this rule and happily endorse Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett for the United States Senate.
